I am organizing an event with my colleagues called Policy for the People.
Politics has felt so foreign to me, something to shun—I’ve gravitated more toward grassroots organizing in other ways, which has led me to education. But here I am putting on a professional development series on how students and teachers can get involved in making local policy change.
I’m learning as I go—yesterday I went to City Hall and I’m working with my students on how they can change school and city environmental policies…and it feels exciting to be at a growing edge, teaching what I’m in the process of exploring myself.
So if you want to come learn with me about how we can reclaim local politics for environmental justice, sign up to come to my school on November 21 and let’s do it together!
