It’s going to be a busy spring! Here’s just a taste of my travels:
California Association of Independent Schools (March 3, 2014)
I’ll be kicking off the spring with the first of several conferences touring #TechTools101: Social Media Skills for Educators. We look at how to use technology to engage students in community-based learning & service learning projects. I help teachers build their skills so they can become social media and technology savvy so they can engage their students in new media projects. Thanks for welcoming me at the CAIS Southern Regional Meeting!
Tech Tools 101 with Educators Consortium for Service Learning (March 8, 2014)
ECSL is generously sponsoring a FULL-DAY workshop of Tech Tools 101: Social Media Skills for Educators at Campbell Hall. We did the first one at Windward School in the fall and it was a hit! Can’t wait to meet those eager-bright-faced-on-a-Saturday-morning educators for a second round!
Green Schools National Network (March 27-29, 2014)
I’ll be talking #TechTools101, as well as Challenge-Based Learning (#cblearn) — a perfect match for green schools!
Green Ambassadors Institute: Service Learning for Sustainability (April 8 & 9, 2014)
An amazing professional development program out of Environmental Charter Schools that I have the honor of coordinating this year with an incredible team of educators. We bring teachers, administrators, & community organizations together from all over LA and the West Coast to help build robust environmental service learning programs in schools that are truly integrated into the standards. This course is one of four designed to give teachers time to plan collaboratively with fellow educators and leave inspired with hands-on tools they can apply in their classrooms!
MONUMENTAL: National Service Learning Conference (April 9-12, 2014)
Heading out to Washington, DC for the NYLC national conference on service learning! I can’t wait to meet some amazing youth and educators doing stellar service learning projects all over the country. I’m honored to bring #TechTools101 to this great conference.
International Society for Technology in Education Conference (June 28-July 1, 2014)
I’ve never been to ISTE, and have only heard great things! I hope I can pass muster teaching #TechTools101 to tech-savvy educators attending this summer, but I’m excited to bring the community-based & service learning angle to technology, which is not often part of the conversation.
Phew, after all those travels I hope I still have the energy to take a month off in July and head out of the country with my love!
Check back in, and give me a holler if we’ll be overlapping anywhere this spring! I’d love to meet you!
