Wow — just closed on another apartment building in LA, my third one this year!
I’m a realtor now, but I started this journey as a real estate investor. These are two very different things!
Obviously, me being an investor makes me a better realtor, because I understand how value and equity work on a deeper level (and I’ve done this whole escrow process myself, over and over and over — and over 😂).
But being a realtor is me helping others achieve their goals, and being an investor is me achieving my own goals of financial freedom!
(I love both, but it’s like that saying: “put your own oxygen mask on before putting it on others.”)
I started investing out of state because that’s what made the most sense to me at the time, with the capital I had. I don’t regret it for a minute — I learned so so much — but the plan was always to start investing here in Los Angeles, in my backyard!
So at the beginning of 2021 I wound up partnering with some great folks that I trust, and who had a lot more experience than me. It took some years of trust building, but once we got together, the ball just started rolling fast!
We closed on a 10 unit, then a 7 unit, and now a 9 unit. A couple more are in the works too.
We’re buying APARTMENT BUILDINGS! In LA! When supposedly all the investors tell you you can’t buy anything that cash flows here! And we’re buying for an average of $168k per door, which is also unheard of (e.g. where could you find a single family house in LA for $168,000?).
I get very very excited for ALL my clients’ deals… and every once in a while I get to celebrate one of my own too 🙂
One step closer to financial freedom! 😊
